「漆」という漆の木から採取される樹液を用いて、造形作品を制作している。漆は、古くから器などの塗料として使用されており、とても堅牢で保温性があり、酸にも強いなど機能面でも大変優れている。しかし、機能面だけでなく、漆の光沢はこれまでに多くの人々を魅了してきた。また、貝や金粉で表面に細工を施すことができ表現も幅がとても広い。
私は、漆の特徴を活かし、乾漆という漆と麻布を貼り重ね自由な形をつくる造形技法と豊富な加飾技法を融合させ、新たな漆の表現方法を求め研究している。これまで布をモチーフとした作品を制作しており、風になびいている様子や、そこに佇む瞬間を捉え留めたような形を造形し、その形に沿った加飾を施すことによって見る角度によって様々に表情を変化させている。このようにこれからも漆の新たな表情を引き出せる作品制作を目指していきたい。
I create figurative works using "urushi" (lacquer), a sap extracted from the lacquer tree.
Lacquer has long been used as a paint for vessels and other objects. It is very robust, heat-retaining, and acid-resistant, and is also very functional. However, in addition to its functional aspect, the luster of lacquer has attracted many people in the past. It can also be crafted on the surface with shells and gold powder, offering a very wide range of expression.
I am researching new ways of expressing lacquer by utilizing the characteristics of lacquer and combining dry lacquer, a technique for creating free-form shapes by pasting lacquer and linen together, with a variety of decorating techniques. I have been creating works using cloth as a motif. I form shapes that seem to capture the moment of standing or fluttering in the wind, and by applying decorations along these shapes, the expression changes depending on the angle from which the viewer looks at the work. In this way, I would like to continue to aim to create works that bring out new expressions of lacquer.

UEZU ANRYU
上江洲 安龍
沖縄の伝統工芸である琉球漆芸を研究し、自身の制作に
取り入れ作品を制作しています。古くからおもてなしに
使われた東道盆と琉球漆器に使用された加飾技法を現代の
ライフスタイルに合わせて自身でデザインし、新しい琉球漆器を目指して制作しています。
加飾技法と造形技法の２つの融合を目的に制作しています。
I study "Ryukyu Urushi" , which is a traditional Okinawan craft, and incorporate it into my own production to create works. I deign the decoration technique used for the Tundābun and Ryukyu Urushi, which have been used for hospitality for a long time, according to the modern lifestyle, and aim to create a new Ryukyu Urushi.
I'm making it for the purpose of fusion of two techniques, decoration technique and modeling technique.

大城 史織
漆（Japanese lacuer）は東南アジアで古代からあり、日本では漆（Urushi）と呼ばれています。
私はこの伝統素材を使って、現代風にアレンジした花鞠を制作しました。
透かしが特徴的な作品であり、今までに見たことのない漆のオブジェとして見ていただけたら幸いです。
Japanese lacquer, called urusi in Japan, has a long history from ancient times among Southeast Asia.
I created modernized version of Japanese ball, called Hanamari, by using these traditional urusi materials.
The most characteristic part of this art work is this openwork.
I hope you can see it as the new urusi craft that never been before.
